Jalan-jalan with Ibu Mertuaku: Zoo Negara

So the next day, we went to the National Zoo, coz you know what? Even though the Land of Hornbills is the biggest state in Malaysia, we don't have a freakin' zoo of our own, except if you count in The Wildlife Park in Bintulu (well, they don't have giraffe and Gloria hippo, so it doesn't count as a zoo):

Zoo Negara
At the zoo entrance

While waiting for hubby to buy the tickets, I checked out the noticeboard and found out that the Animal Show will start soon:
Zoo Negara
Hurry up! The show'll start in 5 mins!

I had never watched the Animal Show, which made me a real pathetic. Hubby watched once when he went to Madrid Zoo and he said it was awesome (yeah2... he had more fun than me when we were in Madrid, because I was cooped up in some boring conference while he went exploring the city).

So in our excitement, we walked fast-fast to the show, found good seats before the show started, and realised that we left our parents behind. Bummer. I'm sooo not getting any nominations for best daughter-in-law award:

Zoo Negara
Phew, Made it on time!

The show started with a flock of birds flying across the audience and already, I was as excited as a two-year-old toddler. Suami Terchenta laughed at me and teased, 'So, who's more excited to visit the zoo, Dad or you?' Excuse me dear, but in case you hadn't notice, Dad happened to be excited as well.

Then a parrot showed its skill hoisting the Malaysian flag on a mini pole:

Zoo Negara
Oi, how clever!

And a baby seal jumped through a loophole and clapped its hands (feet) cleverly:

Zoo Negara
What would animal show be without the bright & funny seal?

And that was it. No dolphin. WHY no DOLPHINS?? *wail*

Ok, I had to contend with no dolphins and get a move on with life. After the show, we all trooped out and started our zoo tour. Zoo was well, zoo. Lots of animals, some looking bored, some were grazing, or just plain sleeping. To cut the story short, here's a couple of photos of our parents posing in front of zoo animals:

With the giraffes...

Zoo Negara
... and elephants

Here's Mom feeding sugar cane to one of 'em:

And us posing in front of the bored lion:

When I last posed in front of the camels during our last visit to the zoo 4 years ago, I never thought that we'd come here again and pose with our parents pulak:

2 hours later, we figured that we had had enough and it was time to leave the zoo:

Zoo Negara
Bye Zoo. Till the next relatives come to visit...

To be continued... the trip to Putrajaya.

Kuala Lumpur Tour of Sights

Psst.. look at this photo:

Look at me and the lady behind

Same expression, meh? Like mother & daughter in law meh? Hahaha! Both of us were looking at Suami Terchenta, wonder what we were probably thinking:

Mother in law: ....why is my son taking photos all the time? Let me babab him!
Me: Why is he so adorable? Let me... bite my lips!

This weekend my parents in law flew in from Kuching to spend quality family time together with us. Since they've never been to KL before, Junaidix a.k.a Suami Terchenta had planned an exhausting exhaustive list of places to bring them to, which include:

1. My office:

The Musa Family posing between two towers

The Musa Family + Menantu

2. KL Tower:

Loving couple at the foot of KL Tower

MIL spotted something exciting from the top of the tower

3. Tugu Negara:

PIL posing in front of the monument

4. Islamic Art Museum (where I used to shoot corporate video back when I was still working with Mr Trump):

Trip to museum for a cultural experience (and the aircond!)

5. Masjid Negara:

To pray, of course

6. Dataran Merdeka:

FIL was so proud to finally make it here

7. Some awesome grafitti:

Seriously good art we found behind some back alley

And last but not least, Jalan TAR:

Braving the throngs of people in search of t-shirts for my two brother & sister in law

HOWEVER, if you ask them which experience they love the most, they'll give you this answer pronto:

... mother in law

... father in law

... horse riding.

They love it even more than bargain-hunting at Jalan TAR and even sightseeing at KLCC and Dataran Merdeka. All the way back to home after dinner at Satay Haji Samuri at Taman Melati, they kept on relating their experience riding a horse. And forever it will be imprinted in their mind, the memory of KL is not KLCC or Putrajaya or Dataran Merdeka, but KL=horse!

If you noticed that I was not really in the photos, actually I was more interested to find the shadiest place which meant I could be far away from the photo shoot. Yup, yours truly is a chick chicken when it comes to being exposed to direct sunlight.

I really admired my MIL for being able to be out in the sun even though it was a hot and sweltering day :p

Ice Skating @ Sunway

My sister had been cooped up in the house for a week without any activities. Kesian.

So we thought of bringing her out for fun. What could be more fun than ice skating on a hot day?

While waiting for the crew to re-surface the ice

It had been a long time since we last skated. The entrance fee for 3 persons (plus socks & gloves) is insane - RM93! Sungguh tak senonoh Sunway charge harga yang tak patut. Huhu...

This is my sister, skating like a pro. Although she spent the first 15 mins clinging to the wall, but not long after that she was zooming around faster than me.

This is me skating like a wimp with Suami Terchenta. We were careful not to bump into any kids, although it was a tough job. The ice rink was crowded with people, I tell you. Kids fall everywhere macam durian runtuh.

Laughing at ourselves after we fell off, despite our best efforts not too.

The next time we feel like going here again, we'll make sure we bring our gloves and stockings to avoid the hefty charge. Boleh hangus poket dibuatnya.

Taste Like Heaven - Godiva Chocolixir

If you're a fan of chocolate, this should be the ultimate treat:

Godiva Chocolixir
Made from the famous Godiva chocolate, so it's not something you should buy everyday (unless you have a really deep pocket):

Godiva Chocolixir
At the price of RM22 per drink, I doubt I'd buy this again in the future. Saja nak merasa minuman coklat paling mahal di Malaysia...

Something to distract me

This:

Or this:

Lately I don't have the mood to blog.

I am once again seriously considering of being on hiatus for a long time. It was just that work has taken a really bad toll on me.

Every time it's Sunday, I started to feel anxiety attack. I began to dread Monday very badly, that Sunday is not enjoyable at all. I hate Sunday. I hate Monday even more. Every other day except Saturday, I just plough through it like a zombie.

Imagine only being alive for one day - Saturday.

God. I need a reason to continue this half-life. I'm wasting my youth in misery.

Lewat Lagi...

Lepas je saya letak beg atas meja, saya terus jumpa bos. Saya buat muka serius dan tanya bos, 'Bos, dapat tak email notify I lambat?'

Bos jawab,'Belum lagi, kenapa?'

'Oh, I nak bagitau ni. I lambat bukan apa, I saja je nak test sistem.'

Bos tak tau nak kata apa. Dia nak marah tapi rasa geli hati jugak. Orang lain dah tergelak macam nak pecah perut dengar jawapan bernas dari saya. Hahaha! Tak sia2 saya buat alasan yang buatkan satu ofis ketawa besar!

Oleh sebab alasan saya sangat unik, jadi bos lepaskan saja perbuatan tak bermoral saya i.e. datang lewat. Lain kali saya kena fikir lagi alasan lain sebab alasan tu cuma boleh guna hari pertama je!

Saturday Hiking Activities

Most people treat weekend as a relaxing time.

Not me. Not Jen. Certainly not our hubbies!

You see, we are two evil ladies who have gotten a taste of S&M and got no heart wan! We asked our hubbies to sacrifice their sleep and go hiking on their rest day!

Ooh... two sadist wives! There they were, the two culprits feigning sweetness & innocence:

Kawaii or not...?

Rupa2nya, ada udang di sebalik batu.

We started to climb the steep slope going up the hill to the canopy walkway. The most senseless thing we noted was, we could not go up the walkway because the ticketing counter only opens at 9.30am! Who would climb up at that time? Not us.

Just about to start climbing

The thing about FRIM that I love is the majestic view of the tree top as seen from below:

Maybe this is how the Old Forest in LOTR looks like, before one of the Ents bends down, picks you up and gobbles you.

Jen & MK were caught by surprise and fast-fast, they whipped out a camera to shoot the amazing view:

'I thought, what la, you point upwards... Ingat got tahi burung about to drop on us.'

As we started to climb the well-trodden path of the jungle, Suami Terchenta started to take more photos to forget his miserable conditions of being forced to go against gravity, and MK started to re-consider the idea of climbing Mount Kinabalu, while both of us continued our talk-a-thon non-stop:

Jen & I still spouting off our mouths, 'Blablablabla...'

In fact, we were the only two hikers who tried our hardest to make sound pollution while other hikers were just concentrating to climb / go down in silence & in one piece.

I never met anyone who was more talkative than Jen.

Everybody was happy when we reached the canopy walkway. Especially Jen's hubby.

Still talking even while resting

After 15 minutes of resting and a whole conversation of durians later, we continued our journey, this time going down the hill. It took us probably 15 minutes to go down.

We took a respite and enjoyed the sight of waterfall and little kiddos dipping their feet in the cool water.

The signage shows that we had walked / climbed approximately 2km from where we started (the mosque):

Suddenly we spotted this bunting:

'Eh, alang2 we're here, let's visit this place! It's only 15mins walk from here.'

Who knows we kena tipu? Unless you walk like the Ents, it actually took us 30mins to reach that place.

But we did not mind so much, especially we got to spend another 30mins talking talking talking:

Walking down the memory lane...

Occasionally we stopped to gaze contentedly at the wind-blown leaves falling off the tree:

I also love the open space between trees and ground covered in fallen leaves. One could not help thinking 'Bollywood!' when one comes across this:

We called this tree, the army tree:

Guess why leh?

Finally we reached the Malay Tea House:

There was a lot of antique items and actually, the place is not so bad. Even I won't mind working here because I can go to work with the same outfit I sleep in:

10 minutes later, we ordered these for our first breakfast:

Sago gula melaka

And...

Aiskrim potong!

You may wonder why I said 'first breakfast'. We had our 'second breakfast' at a mamak restaurant later on. Why?

That's why! The sago gula melaka costs RM3.50 and my aiskrim potong costs RM3!

Anyway, I had a very enjoyable time hiking with Jen. Time flew so fast and we hardly felt exhausted even though we almost always ran out of breath due to our super active lips exercise!

Jen, let's do this again some day:

My new swimsuit!

Note: This entry is for 18 yrs old and above ONLY! Budak bawah umur, sila main jauh2x!

Everyone who follow my blog dilligently surely knows that I love seaside vacations. We always go to some islands for our vacations - Tioman, Pangkor, Manukan. Perhaps some day we'll reach Perhentian or Redang, Insya Allah.

So, if I love seaside so much, I must be a pretty good swimmer right? The answer is...

NOOOOO!!!

I almost drowned during my first honeymoon trip with Suami Terchenta at Tioman Island. The experience was terrifying and since then, I was pretty phobic in the water alone. Suami Terchenta had to hold my hand the WHOLE TIME while we both were in the water.

But since I love water so much (but scared I might drown again), I decided that I should go for swimming lessons. I had been contemplating the idea since last year, and finally I signed up for it with a close friend of mine - I mean, she becomes my swimming instructor.

Kalau nak pergi swimming, haruslah pakai swimming suit kan? Hahaha! Kalau pakai tudung takkan nak pakai bikini kan? 😝 Sekiranya saya pakai bikini, bukan setakat macam nangka kena balut, tapi Suami Terchenta will kill me 18 times! Non-stop! Then forbid me to ever step out of the house!

Therefore, I have to be modest and cover a bit la, suitable as being a Moslem. So, I browsed through the Internet and came across islamicbajurenang.blogspot run by Matus. Her swimsuit collection not only fulfills the dress code of Moslem women, but also quite affordable compared to to other sites I visited. Some more, she has gorgeous floral but sporty collection!

Matus was quick in delivering the swimsuit and I had fun posing for it here! :

Tadah! Meet the swimsuit model! Eh, notice or not I wear terbalik one! Never mind la, first time mah!

Can't wait for my swimming lesson next week! =)
