I have two close girlfriends and between the three of us, we love exploring trendy cafes. I love and at the same time loathe hanging out with them - love it because they are fun company to let down my hair so to speak, but how my pocket drains faster when I'm with them! 😂 So far I've never turned down the invitation to hang out though 😜

Last weekend we were supposed to celebrate a friend's birthday at Lisettes Cafe & Bakery in Bangsar, but at the last minute the birthday girl had work to do so as usual, it was just the three of us + Khadeeja.

This rustic cafe is tucked away in a converted shophouse along the street of Jalan Kemuja, which is a few steps away from Bangsar LRT station.  The place was surrounded with lush greeneries on the cafe front and there's even a tree planted right in front of the cafe!

We went in the morning so the place was packed with the breakfast crowd. Fortunately, it wasn't that packed and we managed to write down our name in the queue list. Depending on the crowd, one has the option to dine out in the fresh air against the pretty pink floral backdrop, or inside the cafe itself. Since it was full house when we reached there, the maître d' assigned our table instead.

We did not have to wait for long before our names were called and we were ushered to a table for 4 near the entrance, which accorded us with the view of the bakery.

The selection of cakes also looks yummy

As soon as we are seated, the staff asked us to scan the QR code on the table to view the menu and order. I was torn between my favourite Eggs Benedict or the Lisette's omelette with truffle cream sauce. In the end, truffle cream trumped. Khadeeja on the other hand opted for something sweet for breakfast and ordered waffles with fresh berries. Zura also ordered omelette while Nurul ordered baked eggs shakshuka, a mediterranean dish which is gaining popularity now.

The food arrived and OMG, the portion is so big! Zura and I ended up struggling to finish our food and wished we had shared our omelette instead (Note to self: next time, share food and save some money).

I was looking forward to fluffy, soft and cheesy omelette - the kind that when you cut it open you can still see runny egg mixed with melted cheese oozing out. But when my omelette came, it was just dry and firm omelette, certainly not what I expected 😌 For an omelette carrying its namesake, major disappointment there.

On the other hand, I like the cheery and bustling ambience at Lisette's. The place is brimming with life, from the busy scene in the open layout kitchen, to the buzzing conversations happening at all the dining tables.

First impression - average food, nice scene and accessible. I'd probably drop by again next time but to sample their lunch menu instead.
